The number of meals provided through the school districts is very impressive.
Thanks for this analysis.

It certainly is impressive. The amount of work that school administrators and food staff do to keep students fed is remarkable. Most districts had meals being delivered within a day of school closures.

How are school districts planning on financially supporting this effort? Were you also able to look at regions where access might be an issue?

School districts were able to afford this through grants as well as emergency funding. Interestingly the amount of money spent per plate decreased in many districts. Supplemental funds went to packaging of the food and in cases where there were multiple pick up locations, transportation costs.

Barriers to access were most pronounced in rural areas and overcome but were overcome with giving students enough food for multiple days.
